This photograph captures brilliantly the notorious winter of 1962/63 without there being any snow. It’s cold and dull and not good conditions for conventional photography but perfect to create a really atmospheric shot such as this. 255 will be ready to go as the next departure, one of Oldham’s PBU-registered Titans, has already arrived. That will leave at 15 minutes past whilst 255 would leave on the even hour (Manchester worked the odd hour departures).
