Subject: National Welsh XR1959 (NOB 423M)
Chassis: Bristol VRTSL6G
Body: Metro-Cammell H43/33F
Location: Pontygwaith, Ferndale Road
Date: 9-Jul-1983

It can be difficult to determine where Pontygwaith ends and Tylorstown begins and it is certainly Tylorstown further up the hill. However, XR1959 is definitely approaching the stop at the Bridgend Hotel in Pontygwaith.

That stop has had to change name as the hotel no longer exists and when you look at the list of stopping places in 1972 the only stop between the depot in Porth and Tylorstown Welfare Hall that has been able to retain the same name is at Margaret Street in Pontygwaith. Every other stop refererred to a pub, institute or colliery that has since closed or to houses that have since been demolished.
