856 received this maroon and white livery in the final year or so of National Welsh operation and has been photographed in the very early days of the Rhondda Buses operation when buses were running under the Tellings-Golden Miller licence. The Rhondda Buses notice in the windscreen was a feature of these early days.

This is also a relatively-rare appearance of an Olympian on a route other than the 332 (later 132).
