Rhondda introduced underfloor-engined coaches to the fleet in 1952 with these three Leyland Royal Tigers with the chassis manufacturer's own distinctive metal-framed body, 327-329 (LTG 267-269). They replaced the trio of pre-war AEC Regal coaches 160-162.

They were in a much brighter livery than previous vehicles, being mainly cream with a red roof. They retained the same livery throughout their time with Rhondda, although the style of fleet name changed slightly in later years.

Their lives were quite short with Rhondda as all were withdrawn in 1960. Not surprisingly such modern coaches found ready buyers (despite the Royal Tiger's reputation for thirst and poor braking) and all went for further use.
