Subject: Pontypridd UDC 39 (FNY 932) Chassis: Bristol K6A Body: Park Royal UH30/26R Location: Abercynon, Navigation House Hotel Date: 26-Aug-1959
A delightful portait of 39 in anything but a common location for photographs of Pontypridd buses. It’s not clear what 39 was doing but Pontypridd did work to Abercynon Dowlais Cardiff Colliery, the entrance to which was to the left just off the picture.
In the left background the road runs alongside what was left of the Glamorganshire Canal, whence the pub got its name. The railway bridge just off-camera to the left would have prevented double-deckers such as 39 from heading further towards Aberdare until about the time of this photo.
