Red & White U850 (HWO 379) Pontypridd Chapel Street M Dryhurst
Subject: Red & White U850 (HWO 379) Chassis: Leyland Olympic HR40 Body: Metro-Cammell B40F Location: Pontypridd, Chapel Street Date: early 1960s
Red & White bought two of the short Leyland Olympics which were joined much later by a solitary similar vehicle supplied new to United Welsh. The two native vehicles spent most of their lives at Aberdare but finished at Abergavenny.
U850 loads up in Pontypridd for Bedlinog. As they were the only ones in the fleet with this shape of display this display may have been unique to them - Dynevor Terrace is in Nelson and implies running there directly instead of via Treharris or, as the Blackwood service did, via Llwyncelyn Terrace and High Street.
