Subject: Southend C.T. 106 (HJ 8926) Chassis: Garrett OS Body: Garrett H32/28R Location, Southend, London Road depot Year: 1929
Note the legal ownership which reads "Southend-on-Sea Corporation Light Railways & Transport Dept", a fleetname that reflected that, unusually, the tramways were authorised by means of a Light Railway border rather than an Act of Parliament.
This Garrett was one of five numbered 105-109 (HJ 8925-8929), purchased following the success of an ex-demonstrator bought the previous year.
They quickly looked old-fashioned and were withdrawn in 1939.
