HR1777 is carrying its first advertising livery for National Holidays and entering Glan-y-llyn, just south of the narrowest part of the valley where no less than four railways, a canal, a road and a river had to squeeze through at different altitudes.
To the right the road once led up to the nearby station on the abortive Cardiff Railway, now a linear path. The river is just behind the Swan Inn to the left of the bus. Slightly further to the right was once the Glamorganshire Canal and just by here were the treble locks (locks 35-37) and Rhiwddar reservoir.
