Subject: National Welsh HR1856 (MUH 286X) Chassis: Leyland Olympian ONLXB/1R Body: ECW H45/32F Location: Cardiff bus station Date: 2-Jun-1984
Numerically the first of those allocated to Porth, MUH 286X was originally numbered HR8212. In the 1983 renumbering larger fleet numbers were used but the exisiting, smaller, letters were sometimes retained as seen here.
The New Rhondda local identifier has been moved from the original position to below the cab side window but unfortunately when removing the earlier one thay also seem to have removed quite a bit of the poppy red top coat of paint as well.
The slide is dated as shown but this bus is recorded as the last of the batch to lose its front ventilators, but in Feb-1984. One of the dates is clearly wrong.
For some reason this bus has no offside fleet name or NBC logo and also gives no impression that it ever carried them. The panel around the fuel filler has clearly not been painted in some time.
