Gelligaer standardised on AECs during the thirties and bought almost every single-deck model that company built, but in 1938 bought two Leyland Tigers. They originally had Strachan B37F bodies but were rebodied by Burlingham with a relaxed utility body. In the case of 16 this took place in March 1946.
New in 1938, 16 gave good service to Gelligaer, not being finally withdrawn until 1956.
