These formed the second batch of Northern Counties-bodied AEC Regents for Rhondda and were identical to the 1963 batch except that their original livery featured the italicised fleet name introduced by Rhondda the previous year. 479-490 (ETX 479-490C) were new in August 1965.

Their arrival spelled the end for the last traditional Weymann-bodied AEC Regent IIIs and also the NTG-registered batch, in fact the end of the 9.6 litre-engined AEC Regent III in the fleet.

Absorbed into Western Welsh stock in 1971, 479-490 were renumbered H1-1265 in August 1974 and again in October 1975 to H72-8365. Most were withdrawn in 1977 but 480 and 486, by this time H7365 and H7965, survived until 1979. All went for scrap.
